Meeting Minutes September 8, 2025
7:00 pm – The board of directors met before the general membership meeting. These are the items that were discussed:
- Discussed purchasing heating oil for the hall.
- Al proposed multiple options for perimeter signs.
7:32 pm – The meeting was called to order.
Introduction of Officers: Mike Cumberland- President, Chris Smith- Treasurer, Brian Jesteadt- Membership, James Hacke- Secretary/Trap, Joe Urish- Pistol, Mike Ripley- Black Powder, Al Vogan- Rifle, Tom Fischer- Appointed by the membership.
Treasurer’s Report: Chris read the report.
Bills and Communications: Chris paid $2,501.41 for the property’s fall taxes.
Pop: Nothing to report.
Rental Committee Report: Penn State will be using the pistol range and hall on Sept. 13th and 14th.
Pistol Team: The outdoor league has come to an end. The winter league will begin on Sept. 25th and shoot on Thursday nights from 2 pm till approximately 8 or 9 pm. They usually practice on Wednesday afternoon if anyone is interested in joining them. Joe said they are planning on clearing some of the overgrowth around the outdoor pistol range.
Trap Team: Jim reported for practices between July 8th and Aug. 19th. There was $280 brought in, the expenses were $201.50, the team kept $23.50, and he turned in $55 to the club. He also turned in an additional $32 from the previous practices after discovering a reporting error. The next trap shooting practices will be on Oct. 14th and 28th. from 5 pm till dark. Practices will continue to rotate every other Tuesday night. The winter trap league will begin on Nov. 2nd from noon till about 4 pm.
Black Powder / Meat Shoots: Mike reported they had great weather and a decent turnout for the Rendezvous event. He brought in $1,701, the expenses were $500, he kept $1, and turned in $1,200 to the club. The monthly trail walk shoot will begin again on Oct. 12th. Any flintlock or percussion muzzle loaders with open sights may be shot for scores. The trail shoot will continue on the 2nd Sunday of each month.
Junior Rifle Team: Looking for anyone interested in leading junior shooting classes. Contact Mike Ripley if interested.
Archery:
Fun Indoor Shoot: No report. The “fun shoot” is planned to resume around the end of September.
Rifle: Al took in $220, expenses were $16, and he turned in $204. On September 27th, there will be a low-light 100-yard steel egg shoot starting at 7:30 pm. Sight-in time will begin earlier. Oct. 12th is the next 100-yard steel egg shoot from 9 am till 3 pm. Oct. 26th is the next 200-yard stee gong match from 9 am till 3 pm.
Membership: Brian took in $150, maintenance fund $15, and general fund $135. Key cards were $0. The total membership is 587, of which 449 are senior/life charter members. There are 40 new members for 2025.
Old Business: The new flagpole in front of the hall has been installed. Thank you to Joe, Ralph, Al, Tom, and Jim for their effort put into this project. Also, thank you to members of the Rendezvous who raised the flag for the first time on the new pole.
New Business: The 100-yard rifle backstop has been extended for rimfire use only. If you are using anything other than a .22 caliber gun, please continue to use the original backstop with the black belting.
