Meeting Minutes August 10, 2026
7:00 pm – The board of directors met before the general membership meeting. These are the items that were discussed:
- All centerfire rifles are now banned from the outdoor pistol range.
- Work on the new rifle range is going to begin.
7:31 pm – The meeting was called to order.
Introduction of Officers: Mike Cumberland- President, Chris Smith- Treasurer, Brian Jesteadt- Membership, James Hacke- Secretary/Trap, Joe Urish- Pistol, Mike Ripley- Black Powder, Al Vogan- Rifle, Tom Fischer- Appointed by the membership.
Treasurer’s Report: Chris read the report.
Bills and Communications: Nothing to report.
Rental Committee Report: August 14th, 21st, 22nd, and 28th the hall is rented. Aug. 29th from 4-9 pm. Sept. 12th &13th PSU, Sept. 22nd & 23rd Hunter Safety Course from 6 till 9:30 pm. Visit pgc.pa.gov to register for the class.
Pistol Team: There have been some new signs posted on the outdoor pistol range, banning the use of centerfire rifles. Joe reported that the summer league will be completed at the end of August. The indoor pistol league will start in September. They shoot on Thursdays at the outdoor pistol range starting at 2 pm until September. Indoor league will have practice nights on Tuesdays with competition nights on Thursdays.
Trap Team: Jim reported on the practices held in the months of June and July. Took in $445, expenses were $282, turned in $86 to the club. Next practices will be held on September 8th and 22nd. Practices will be $5 for 25 birds. They will continue every other Tuesday from 5 pm until everyone is done shooting. Open to the public.
Black Powder / Meat Shoots: Mike took in $110, $50 expenses, kept $15, and turned in $35 to the club. Mike used $1,500 from the cabin fund to add a deck onto the cabin. Preparations for the 49th rendezvous are underway. The rendezvous dates are from September 4th through the 7th. Any flintlock or percussion muzzleloaders with open sights may be shot for scores. The trail shoot will be on the 2nd Sunday of each month and begins at 11 am.
Fun Indoor Shoot: The fun shoot is on break till later this year. The indoor .22 rifle fun shoot is on Monday mornings around 9 am.
Rifle: Al took in $402, expenses were $0, and he turned in $402. August 9th will be the next 100-yard egg shoot. July 26th will be the next 200-yard gong shoot. Shooting begins at 9 am and will run until 3 pm or until everyone is done. These events are open to the public. Any .22lr rifle configuration is welcome.
Membership: Brian took in $90, maintenance fund $10, and the general fund $80. Key cards were $0. The total membership is 600, of which 463 are senior/life charter members. There are 75 new members for 2026.
Old Business: Still need to replace the culvert pipe between the mail hall and the trap building.
New Business: Use caution while on club property. There have been a couple of bee nests that will need to be sprayed. Work on the new rifle range will be underway. Continue to check the online calendar for range closures. The outdoor pistol range building will need some repairs.
Good of the Association: Ron wanted to express his thanks to the Samples Border Rangers for their donation of a lantern in memory of his wife.
